During the September 25, 2018 meeting, the Donaldsonville City Council voted to approve a four percent price increase in the fifth year of the current Republic Services contract for garbage collection.

The current price of $20.13 per house would increase to 20.94, according to company representative Karla Swacker.

In a separate motion, the Council voted to authorize the Mayor to sign a new five-year contract with the company.

Included in the new contract will be an annual three percent price increase.

In her presentation to the Council, Swacker cited the cost of labor, risk, equipment, and fuel as reasons which necessitate the increases.

The company had no price adjustments for the city since 2013.

Republic collects garbage twice per week. Bulky waste is picked up once per week.
