Donaldsonville Council elects Aucoin, Delaney to chair positions


The Donaldsonville City Council voted to elect Raymond Aucoin (center) as Chairman and Lauthaught Delaney Sr. (far right) as Co-Chair during Tuesday's meeting.

The Donaldsonville City Council voted Tuesday to continue the tenures of Chairman Raymond Aucoin and Co-Chairman Lauthaught Delaney Sr.

Both Aucoin and Delaney have served in those capacities on the Council in recent years.

"Thank you for the vote of confidence," Aucoin stated to his fellow Council members.

Delaney echoed appreciation for the Council's decision to move forward with him as Co-Chairman.

In other matters during Tuesday's regular meeting:

MEETINGS CANCELLED: The Council voted to cancel the Tuesday, February 9 regularly scheduled meeting due to the Mardi Gras holiday.

Council members suggested calling for a special meeting in the event of an unforseen issue arising around the time of the cancelled meeting.

Also, the Council decided to cancel its Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday, January 18, due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance.
