The Donaldsonville City Council recognized the state champion Ascension Catholic girls powerlifting team Tuesday night.
The team won its second consecutive Division V state title this spring in Monroe.
Nine of 11 powerlifters placed in the top three in the state competition.
Ascension Catholic earned 50 points, besting Sterlington's 44.
Elizabeth Latino and Brandi Landry took home outstanding lifter honors, as they earned individual state titles.
Micahlyn Daigle was a state title winner, while Paige Joseph, Megan Brooks, and Emme Medine were runner-up winners.
The powerlifting team is coached by Joseph Ryan, Chandra Ewen, Javon Yarbrough, and Drey Troxclair.
