Donaldsonville City Council honors 2015 Ascension Catholic girls cross country champions


During Tuesday's meeting, the Donaldsonville City Council recognized the 2015 Ascension Catholic girls cross country championship team.

The Bulldogs won the Class 1A state title on Nov. 16 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Stephanie Breaux was the overall top finisher in the three-mile run to earn an individual state championship with a time of 19:00.5.

The Bulldogs had a total of four competitors finish in the top five.

Sophie Daigle placed third in 19:23.2, Breanna Bernard was fourth in 19:43.45 and Haley Dupre was fifth in 20:32.

Rounding out Ascension Catholic’s top finishers were Whitney Eure in 13th (21:45.3), Danielle Brou in 19th (22:11.2) and Meridith Daigle in 45th (24:53.4).

Ascension Catholic ranked first in the LTFCA poll.

Breaux, Daigle, and Bernard were all named All State selections by the LTFCA.
