The Donaldsonville community celebrated the July 4th weekend with a two-day event at the Fairgrounds.

Construction at the usual location, Crescent Park, led the city to hold the celebration at the Frank Sotile Pavilion at the Fairgrounds.

Crowds enjoyed entertainment on both Friday and Saturday. The first day was highlighted by a hot-air balloon glow. The second day featured the fireworks show. Live music was performed both days.

On behalf of the City of Donaldsonville, the Downtown Development District would like to thank all of the sponsors who made the event possible: CF Industries, Ascension Parish Tourism Commission, and Entergy.

The DDD also thanks Mayor Leroy Sullivan, the City Council, City Staff, DDD Commissioners, the Chamber of Commerce, especially Juanita Pearley, Parish President Kenny Matassa, Councilmen Oliver Joseph and Bill Dawson, the Parish of Ascension, the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, the Donaldsonville Fire Department, and all of hte vendors, musicians, pyrotechnics artists, balloon crew, volunteers, and all of the citizens and visitors.
