The Donaldsonville City Council authorized Mayor Leroy Sullivan to make a proclamation declaring May 4, 2017 as D-D Breaux Day in the city.
Breaux, a Donaldsonville native, has compiled a legendary career as coach of LSU gymnastics over 40 seasons.

D-D Breaux Day began at 8:45 a.m. in Donaldsonville with the Mayor at a prayer breakfast, followed by a mass at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church.

Other activities included a visit to Donaldsonville High School, and a presentation at the Ascension Parish Council meeting.

Vincent and Michael Tortorich provided an antique car to chauffer Coach Breaux through the streets of the city.
The day concluded with a banquet at Palazzo Bernardo.
The Rotary Club of Donaldsonville and the Donaldsonville Area Chamber of Commerce were key in organizing the day in honor Coach Breaux.
