The City of Donaldsonville's audit will be performed by a new accounting firm.

The City Council voted Tuesday night to accept an engagement letter from Postlethwaite & Netterville, an accounting and business advisory firm with offices in Donaldsonville.

The letter concerning the annual audit stated the firm's services would not exceed $25,000.

Mayor Leroy Sullivan Sr. said the change was necessitated due to Waguespack & Gallagher, LLC, based in Napoleonville, no longer being able to provide services to the city.

Sullivan estimated Waguespack & Gallagher's fee had been $22,000.

In other matters Tuesday:

The City's General Fund's adjusted rate is 6.50 mills, and the Donaldsonville Fire Department is 4.98 mills. The levied rates are 6.53 for the General Fund, and 5.00 for the Fire Department.
