2018 Ascension Catholic baseball champions honored

Donaldsonville Mayor Leroy Sullivan and the City Council recognized the Ascension Catholic High School baseball team, the 2017-2018 state champions, Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

The Donaldsonville-based Bulldogs won the Division IV state title on May 11, 2018 at McMurry Park in Sulphur, Louisiana.

Ascension Catholic defeated district-rival St. John of Plaquemine in the LHSAA state championship final, 4-3.

Ascension Catholic senior pitcher and infielder Charlie Gianelloni was named the most valuable player.

The Bulldogs coaching staff includes head coach Todd Landry, Rick Bolotte, Larry Dunn, Chris Schexnayder, and Drey Trosclair.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The City of Donaldsonville will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 609 Railroad Ave., Donaldsonville, Louisiana for the purpose of adopting the Tax Millage Rate for 2018.
