2017 Donaldsonville Independence Day celebration, pageant set




The annual Donaldsonville Independence Celebration will be Monday, July 3, 2017 at the newly-renovated Crescent Park.

Festivities begin at 2 p.m. with a singing competition. A $150 prize and award goes to first place. Categories include: youth (ages 12 and under), teen (13 to 18 years old), and adult (19 and older). Competitors must sign up in advance as time slots will be limited, and must provide vocal tracks. Forms are available at the Donaldsonville Area Chamber of Commerce and City Hall.

The bands begin at 3 p.m. with the Michael Foster Project. Hello McFly follows at 5 p.m. Artemis takes the stage at 7 p.m.

The fireworks show is tentatively scheduled for 9:15 p.m.

Additionally, the Miss Donaldsonville Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 5 p.m. in the Lemann Memorial Center.

Contestants must have a Donaldsonville address. Age divisions and entry fees are: Little Miss (7-11 years; $25), Teen Miss (12-15 years; $25), and Miss (16-19 years; $50).

The events are sponsored by the City of Donaldsonville, CF Industries, Tour Ascension, Elray Kocke Service and the Donaldsonville Downtown Development District.
