As the Executive Officer of the City of Donaldsonville, the Mayor shall be a full-time official and shall hold no other elected public office nor any compensated appointive office or employment of the City government or any of its political subdivisions during the term of office for which elected and shall hold no compensated appointive office or employment of the City government until one (1) year after expiration of the term for which elected. The Mayor shall not engage in any activity unrelated to City government business that would interfere with or detract from the performance of duties as Mayor.
Mayor LEROY J SULLIVAN, Sr.
Mayor Sullivan has served three terms on the City Council for the City of Donaldsonville from 1993-2004. He is currently serving his third term as Mayor of the City of Donaldsonville. He has managed and directed a force of over 40 employees for the last 10 years and a budget of approximately $7,000,000 dollars for the past two years.
He is a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he has dutifully served as a deacon. Mayor Sullivan acknowledged that God has greater works for him and accepted his call into the ministry. He is currently attending the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary through First Baptist Church in Gonzales, where he is learning and gaining deeper knowledge of the word of God.
During his twenty-six years of employment at CF Industries, he served as supervisor sixteen of those years. Mayor Sullivan has held the title of Worship Master of the Hiram Lodge #12 Free and Accepted Masons. At one point, he held the title of the youngest Worship Master in the State of Louisiana. He has also held the titles of Commissioner with the Lafourche Basin and Levee District, Commissioner of the Louisiana Airport Authority, Commissioner with the Louisiana Uniform Construction Code and a member of the Donaldsonville Rotary Club.
He is the son of the late Leola Sullivan and the late Leonard Sullivan Sr. He is one of eight children.
He is a 1975 graduate of Donaldsonville High School.
Mayor Sullivan is the father of five children: Latonya, Leroy, Jr., Nyla, Tre’ and Trent.
He is the proud grandfather of five children.

The Executive Secretary is responsible for providing administrative support and performing numerous duties for the Mayor including but not limited to: Scheduling and coordinating meetings for the Mayor; and maintaining a daily work calendar. Writing correspondence and emailing. Provide clerical support to departments. Greet and assist visitors entering the Mayor’s office. Assist constituents with matters that may be handled without going to the Mayor. Direct the general public to the appropriate staff member. Answering the phone and routing callers to the necessary department. Receive and relay telephone messages for the Mayor. Order supplies, materials, and equipment for office use. Periodically plan events and volunteer activities. Schedule the use of the Court Room and Conference Room. Handle information requests from constituents. Maintain administrative files.
